Where Do You Blog Series: Meet Paula from Sweet Pea

It’s Monday, that means it’s time for our “Where Do You Blog” series.  This week we’re getting a peek into where Paula, the blogger behind Sweet Pea, blogs.

Where do you blog?

I always blog from the office that I share with my husband. Until this January, we shared a computer and a desk. I now have my own desk and computer beside his and it’s quite cozy to spend time in the same room while we each work on our computers. Our dog sleeps on his bed beside us which adds to the enjoyment.

What inspires your blog posts?

Many of my blog ideas come to mind while I’m running. My running partner also likes to craft and DIY and we enjoy talking about ideas while we run. We also talk about what we are cooking and I’ve shared several of her recipes on my blog. The other recipes that I share are ones that are tried and true that I’ve made time and again. My 1950’s home is also a source of blog material. There’s always a room that needs decorating or something that needs an update, so I’m never without a DIY to share with my readers. I’ve learned that a new idea can be found just about anywhere. When something inspires me, I try to write it down so I don’t forget it.

When do you blog?

I am a 7th grade teacher and do most of my blogging on the weekends which is the only time that I have to work on projects, photograph them, and write my posts. I leave my house to run or go to the gym at 5:30 am and get up at 5:00 so that I can down two cups of coffee while I check email and social media. When I get home at night, I check social media again and read and comment on my favorite blogs.

What do you do when you get writer’s block?

My running partner is a writer, so talking about what to write or how to say what I want to say with her is extremely helpful to me

3 tips on how you keep your content fresh:
  • Put your own spin on any project. Think about what you can do that you haven’t seen on other blogs.
  • Share stories about your town. People love to travel virtually to attractions, historical sites, and to wonderful stores.
  • Pay attention to what others are blogging about and try not to repeat what someone else that’s in your niche has recently posted.
